Kaohsiung | 丸叄食伍 Onigiri。Hidden in the alleyways, this artistic Japanese-style old house offers business lunches, tea-infused rice, rice balls, set meals, and udon noodles.

/

I love these Japanese-style set meal hipster eateries the most. I’ve been here so many times that I’ve lost count!

It’s hard to imagine that in the bustling business district of Kaohsiung, there could be such an authentically Japanese spot hidden away.

Because I usually come on weekdays, it’s always packed on weekends!

Address:No. 277, Zhongdong Street, Xinxing District, Kaohsiung City, 800, Taiwan.

Time:Open daily from 11:30 AM to 8:30 PM, closed on Tuesdays.

Phone:+886 72355255

Price:100 ~ 200 NTD

Feature:Tea-infused rice, donabe (clay pot) steamed dishes, and Japanese set meals.

Environment

This small eatery is filled with a Japanese ambiance and plenty of wooden elements.

The first floor has a loft-like design with tatami mats, and upon entering, wearing slippers makes you feel like you’ve truly arrived in Japan.

The second floor is styled with wooden windows and school-style desks and chairs, giving you a sense of the old house’s vintage charm.

Food

I really love their tea-infused rice, where they pour a bowl of tea soup directly onto the rice.

A set meal with side dishes and steamed egg, all for just 165 NTD, is a great deal!

My friend ordered udon noodles and a cheesecake for dessert.

The udon noodle soup is also served in a teapot for you to pour as much or as little as you like, giving you control over the quantity.

Overall, I really love it here, to the point where my friends might tease me, saying, “Why are we here again?”

If you come for a business lunch around noon, there’s even a 160 NTD set meal discount, which makes it even more cost-effective!

For friends who appreciate Japanese-style small eateries, this is definitely a must-visit place.
